Chengdu, July 7, 2026 — Prof. Raju Kumar Gupta from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) launched his six-day courseManufacturing of Batteries and Hydrogen Systemsat Sichuan University’s Jiang’an Campus on July 6. The program attracted 118 undergraduates, with Assoc. Prof. Ouyang Like serving as academic coordinator.
Framed around the global energy transition, the lectures bridged fundamental thermodynamics with cutting-edge electrochemical storage. Prof. Gupta detailed green hydrogen production via PEM electrolysis—highlighting catalyst preparation (Pt, IrO?) and membrane electrode assembly design—and contrasted PEMFC and SOFC operating mechanisms. Addressing renewable intermittency, he emphasized lithium-ion battery fundamentals and positioned hydrogen as the critical carrier for deep decarbonization in heavy industry and long-distance transport.
Adopting an interactive pedagogy, Prof. Gupta reinforced learning through in-class quizzes and guided students in critically analyzing global hydrogen market projections. Assessment combines attendance, participation, and a final examination.
Amid China’s accelerating “Dual Carbon” commitments, the course has significantly strengthened students’ technical grounding while broadening their international perspective in new energy innovation.
