On July 8, 2026, Professor Jian-Wei Xu, Senior Principal Scientist and Deputy Director (Research) at A*STAR's Institute of Sustainability for Chemicals, Energy and Environment, Singapore, launched the six-day courseAggregation-Induced Emission: Mechanisms, Synthesis, and Practical Applicationsat Sichuan University's Jiang'an Campus. Over 90 undergraduate students from various disciplines attended the program, coordinated by Professor ShaojunYuan.
The course covers AIE fundamentals, molecular design, polymer synthesis, luminescent material fabrication, fluorescence sensing, electrofluorochromic devices, and industrial translation. Professor Xu provides a systematic overview of the AIE research framework — from molecular mechanisms to device optimization — and shares his group's breakthroughs in TPE-based materials for aerospace and electronics applications.
Through case studies and interactive discussions, students systematically master AIE principles while developing research-oriented thinking and an international perspective. Against the backdrop of new materials industry upgrading, this lecture equips students with systematic knowledge of organic functional materials, keeping them abreast of global academic and industrial trends and preparing them for future careers in advanced materials and optoelectronics.
